When most industry professionals think of catalytic converter decanning, they still picture the traditional guillotine shear. While this method has long been the industry standard, it remains one of the least efficient approaches for preparing catalyst material for downstream processing and smelting.

Global Refining Group recognized these limitations years ago and invested in developing a more effective catalytic converter processing system. Today, we operate the only fully automated and integrated decanning and milling process of its kind. Commissioned in 2015, this shear-free system continues to set the benchmark for the industry.

Our proprietary process recovers 2–6% more precious metals from catalytic converters than any other method currently available.
